My favourite is Casting Moonshadows, a really long ongoing fic.
It starts before 1st year and will be concluded at the end of 7th, but is currently in the second half of 6th year.
The updates are slow, but if you haven’t read it yet, there’s still 78 chapters to go before you’ll have to deal with that!
To be honest I haven’t read all that many wolfstar fics (only like… 30 or so) and it’s because of Casting Moonshadows. When I got gulped up in it it soon became my own head canon, and well… I don’t like my head canon being challenged by other peoples’, because then I’m going to sit though the whole fic going “this is worng, that’s so out of character, that’s not how it happened etc.” and that’s not really enjoyable XD
Funnily enough this only goes for wolfstar fics, because there’s no written canon by JK Rowling concerning those years in wizard history and especially not their love life at that time!
With other pairing fics I can really enjoy weird AUs and cracky stuff, believe me XD
Anyhow, if you’re into Remus and Sirius (and some really creative writing) I recommend you to read Casting Moonshadows!
I can’t say if you’ll love it or not, just that I do.

Don’t ship it. Just don’t. It becomes an obsession, to the point where you are thinking about Wolfstar when eating breakfast; thinking about Wolfstar while in Calculus; thinking about Wolfstar while buying Taco Bell – it never stops, and with all the characters that run around your head near constantly, shouting spells and loving words, you start to wonder what normal people think about all day. There will always be something to remind you of puppy love or perhaps something Marauder-ish, but try to stay away.
I know how it can be – you always see cute fan fiction, and there’s always an adorable fan art painting, or someone posted a gif set and your little shipper heart flutters somewhat, but trust me: if you want to graduate high school/college or get a promotion or whatever it is, don’t ship RemusXSirius! You will never stop thinking about them to the point where it’s unhealthy. Though I usually don’t like to admit I ship Wolfstar, I am too far from recovery. Go on … without me…
(Unless, of course, you don’t want a promotion, or don’t care for graduation, or are completely contempt with the insanity that is Wolfstar, then by all means, go ahead. The fanfiction.net history and tracked couple tags are a pleasure.)
If this is the truth it’s a great time for me to be unemployed!
I will talk this over with my parents and tell them why I am not by any circumstances fit to be looking for a job, even less finding something to study.
Great plan.

I totally agree with you, and just because of that I can feel the enormous angst the image of Remus and drunk confessions gives me.
And angsty Remus gives me chills down my spine. In a disturbingly both sad and exciting way.

I approve of this.
